Machining parts

Produced in brass or stainless steel by Aunov Tech, the Machining parts is formed and machined on the same floor. On the product, the CNC machined part provides the finished surfaces, threads and seats the mating parts locate on. The same floor forms, machines and inspects the part, which keeps tolerances consistent from sample to volume with no third party in the loop.

Product overview

What defines this metal component is, the draw ratio, corner radii and the faces that must stay flat, all held to the drawing and verified at first article.

Toolroom, presses and machining centres used on this metal component operate on the same site, so revisions do not wait on outside suppliers, and every step is logged against the part number.

How it is manufactured

This is how the metal component is built: The part is machined from bar or plate on CNC lathes and mills; cycle time and tool life are recorded per part number.

Batch records for the machining part are filed against the part number, so process settings are reused instead of re-invented. That record is what every machining part reorder is built on, so nothing changes silently between shipments.

Materials and finishing

Working stock covers carbon steel SPCC / DC01, 304 and 316 stainless, aluminium, brass and copper with this metal component costed in carbon steel or stainless.

Finish selection follows the working environment: plating, anodising, powder coating, electrophoresis and passivation. The choice is recorded on the drawing for this metal component, so the decision never has to be made twice.

Batch records for the machining part are filed against the part number, so process settings are reused instead of re-invented. Process settings for the machining part are archived, so later runs can be compared with the one you approved.

Quality control and inspection

Quality management is certified to ISO 9001: stock arrivals are checked against mill certificates, first articles are measured on a CMM, and later batches follow the sampling plan agreed at approval. The machining part first article goes on the CMM, with threads gauged to class. If the assembly calls for torque, leak or pressure proof, the test is built into the quality plan, and the report is packed with the shipment.

Applications

The metal component is fitted into industrial equipment and general assembly work for customers who own the drawing and the tooling.

A single design of this metal component is often reused across a product family, so the finish is chosen to cover the harshest of them, and no re-tooling is needed.

DesigningSend drawings, or send a sample to be measured – a manufacturability review comes back with the quotation; the agreed version governs every later batch.
ToolingProgressive and drawing dies are designed and built in house, so a die can be re-cut against the approved drawing, and maintenance is tracked against the part number.
SamplesFirst-article samples ship with a dimensional report and material certificate.
MaterialsMaterials held include carbon steel, 304 / 316 stainless, aluminium and brass; grade and temper are confirmed in writing before tooling.
Surface finishSurface treatment matched to the duty: plating, coating or polishing; finish thickness and adhesion checked on the first article.
ProcessingBar-fed turning with milled features completed in the same clamping; first articles verify the whole flow before the run is released.
EquipmentBar-fed CNC turning centres plus 3- and 4-axis machining centres, backed by CNC turning centres and a climate-controlled inspection room.
Tolerance+/-0.02 mm general machining, tighter on flagged dimensions; capability is checked on the first article before the run continues.
