A steel tank shell with a side port, drawn deep then pierced for the port boss. Drawn tank shells have no longitudinal seam, so they hold pressure and resist weeping far better than rolled-and-welded cylinders of the same size at small diameters.
Function and Design
The tank shell is small in the bill of materials and large in the warranty claim when it goes wrong. That is why the tank shell is inspected between operations, not only at the end.
What Makes It Work
- This is the family view; the part you receive follows your drawing.
- Tank shell batches are first-article verified, then sampled in production.
- Volume pricing benefits from in-house dies and continuous press capacity.
- Material: We hold carbon steel (SPCC / DC01 or to print) for tank shell production; special grades are sourced to the drawing when volumes justify.
- Process: the tank shell is deep drawn, then deburred and finished on the second operation.
- Finish: The tank shell finish is set by the drawing: natural, plated or coated, with masking where required.
- Size: Size per customer drawing.
- Custom: Custom work to print for the tank shell, with DFM feedback before quotation.
Where It Is Used
Production volumes of this part run in battery and energy-storage components, appliance and HVAC assemblies, automotive sensor and motor housings.
Our Production Advantage
We draw in house on maintained presses and inspect first articles on the CMM. Tears, thinning and rim condition are checked at the press, not discovered at assembly.
Ask for a quotation: material options, tolerances and tooling cost are confirmed in writing.
