Shells, caps and motor cups from an assorted production run, each drawn from steel sheet and trimmed to size. Motor cups in particular need a tight fit over the stator stack, so we hold ID tolerance closely and deburr every edge before packing.
Function and Design
A shell cap looks like the simplest item in a catalogue and is often the most demanding to make consistently. Any drift in the shell cap process is corrected at the machine, not sorted out at inspection.
What Makes It Work
- Sizes in this set are produced from matched tooling for consistent dimensions.
- Deburred, cleaned and packed – ready for assembly without rework.
- Batch consistency is built in: first article verified, production sampled to match.
- Material: The shell cap is quoted material-agnostic: your drawing picks between steel, stainless, aluminium and brass.
- Process: the shell cap is drawn in house on maintained presses, wall thickness held to the print.
- Finish: No catalogue finish: the shell cap surface is agreed on the drawing and confirmed at sample approval.
- Size: Shell cap size to drawing, family covers the standard size range, with the agreed version governing every later batch.
- Custom: Custom production of the shell cap to print, MOQ set by the drawing rather than a catalogue.
Applications
Typical applications include electrical enclosures and junction boxes, battery and energy-storage components, lighting reflectors and covers.
Our Production Advantage
Die maintenance for the shell cap is scheduled by stroke count, so tooling does not drift mid-order. First articles are inspected on the CMM, production is sampled against the same dimensions, and any drift stops the press.
A quotation request is answered with shell cap material options, tolerances and real tooling cost.
